Welcome to Oblivious Musical

Oblivious is the “Hair” for this generation, parodying Big Banks, tattoos, the Supreme Court, politicians, gerrymandering, BMWs, apathy, isolation, the NSA, pesticides, fracking and other ailments of our times.  The underlying theme is that many Millennials and GenXers are oblivious to what is happening to our society.

The main character, Bob Smith, is an unemployed architect in New York City.  He meets a struggling song-writer, singer, Mary Lou, from Tennessee in the unemployment office.  They become fast friends and go to the bank and shopping together.

Along the way they encounter difficulties with Big Bank and Walmart.  Bob is injured in a crosswalk by an out-of-control BMW driver who works for Goldman Sachs.  The injury is minor, but symbolic of recklessness of vulture capital firms.

Bob and Mary Lou become close friends and get involved in protesting against pesticides, fracking, the Supreme Court, politicians and others.  They venture down to Washington, DC to join in other protests and fall in love along the way.

Oblivious is funny, biting and fast-moving.  The music includes parodies of well-known songs that fit the protest situations perfectly.
